Free and Broke

So Friday was my last day at work. It was definitely bittersweet. Emily was so sweet... she got me a beautiful orchid plant, a cupcake, AND a homemade card with a picture of Trooper on it. Best presents ever! We had a team lunch at one of the cafes and I turned all my stuff in around 4 pm. Eric brought Trooper in so I could puppy sit him most of the day. I think I had him for like two hours. Nice! He's probably the sweetest dog ever... very easy going. After, I went to Bld. 50 (as we call the bar down the street) for some last drinks with friends. Well not last drinks with friends... last drinks with coworkers. I left around 7-ish with Emily, Kathy, and Chris in tow. We sang sappy 90s songs the whole way home... it was great. Chris didn't enjoy it as much, but whatever. We had dinner at the Cancun Taqueria in the mission... yum! After, I dropped everyone off and just hung out at home. It was nice and very very chill.

Saturday, I woke up around 11-ish. I got my car an oil change (plus new windshield wipers, new air filter, new license plate lightbulb thingy) and then headed to the Stonestown mall. I got lunch at the Korean place in the foodcourt which was delicious, then lotions from Bath & Body Works (there's a sale! buy 3, get 1 free and if you spend $30 you get a $10 giftcard). After I checked out the Half Yearly Sale at Nordys. I ended up getting a pair of fake Nordstrom brand Uggs (short boots in dark brown), black leather pointy toe flats, and a green canvas/cotton-y jacket. Also, I got Cheech's birthday present! Yay.

I left the city around 7-ish to meet up with Cheech and company for her birthaty at Maggiano's in Santana Row. Dinner was GREAT! It was really yummy... everything is served family style in huge quantities. We got caesar salad, spinach salad, calamari, spinach artichoke dip, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken parmigian, some creamy noodle dish with mushrooms, and salmon on spinach. YUM. For desert we got tiramisu, some apple cobbler type thing, and a cake that Stef brought for Cheech! There were 11 of us total: Cheech, Chris, Stef, George, Lenny, Will, Jen, Young, George, George's gf Karen, and me! After dinner I was so stuffed and tired (it was raining so the drive down sucked) and decided to head back to SF. I got home around 12:30 am and watched Reno 911: Miami and just played my DS. Very lame but relaxing.

Today I did absolutely nothing. I had McD's for lunch, was so bored I fell asleep on the couch, read The Subtle Knife (Golden Compass #2 book), and watched tv. Ellen made AWESOME shrimp tacos for dinner and after Ellen, Phill, and I headed to the Metreon to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D!!! So fun... BUT. When we got to the theatre, there were COPS everywhere... and that yellow tape. The main entrance to the theatre was closed off... but we decided to park and see if the theatre was open anyway. Turns out there was a SHOOTING inside the Metreon. Which seems like the most terrible idea since the Metreon is super crowded on a regular day AND there is the Oracle convention going on right behing the Metreon. Yikes. But the movie thetre was still open. We saw clothes and blood on the floor near the ticket counter. Yikes. I guess I'll read about it tomorrow morning. After the movie, we got McD's ice cream and watched the show Jon & Kate Plus 8. It's about this family... they have one set of twins and a set of SEXTUPLETS. Yeesh... I don't know what I'd do if I had 8 kids... I'd probably tear all my hair out.

And now... I'm just watching tv. It's hella late for me to be awake... but since I don't have work tomorrow, I can do whatever I want! Woo! So, back to the Simpsons and The Subtle Knife.

The Gizmo from Pismo

If anyone can tell me what cartoon that line is from... I'll be impressed. And not even a little bit impressed but REALLY impressed. On to the story of my life... Pismo was GREAT. It was awesome and relaxing and full of deeeelicious meals!

Thursday had work all day and mostly played with Wyzer (pronounced Whizzer). He's probably one of the cutest and sweetest little dogs EVER! Love him.

We Love Wyzer

Anyway, I also took lots of pictures with him. After work, I got gas and was OFF to Pismo! I stopped for dinner at Carl's Jr and eventually made it into Grover Beach (where the condo is technically located)/Pismo at about 10:15 pm. It was perfect timing because Chris and Sooz got there at like 10. Grrreat. We all just hung out around the condo and unpacked. I chose the downstairs room instead of the master bedroom because 1. I always sleep in there and 2. there's a TV in there. Obvious pick for me because one of my most favoritest activities is to watch TV in bed. So Thursday night we just sat around and watched tv and talked. It was awesome.

Friday morning, woke up around 9:30 am or so and left the house around 11 for downtown Pismo. Which isn't really "downtown" but is mostly just like one small street. Whatever. We had the best clam chowdah bread bowl EVER from Splash Cafe (Chris got a burger because he doesn't like chowdah... abominable) and then hit the Prime Outlet Stores of Pismo (of COURSE). We went to Nine West where Sooz got really cute heels, Pac Sun where I got a cute red tank top, Shoe Pavilion where I got navy blue slip-on chucks, Calvin Klein where Sooz and I both got plain tank tops, and Polo... which was a disappointment. Overall we were quite happy with our purchases. After shopping we went to the market (nicest Von's EVER) to pick up dinner supplies for Saturday night then back to the condo to watch more TV. We left for dinner around 6-ish and ate at Jocko's. Jocko's is this hole-in-the-wall type steak house out in the middle of nowhere (Nipomo, CA) which is about 10 minutes south of Grover Beach. SWEET. We all got the same cut of steak, which I forgot is called... so good. SO good. The meat is super flavorful and the sides are awesome. Garlic french bread, baked beans, baked potato. Yum. PLUS you get coffee and ice cream in the end. All for like $25. $25?! Wow. After dinner we were super stuffed so we just wobbled back home and... you guessed it... watched more TV. We tried to rent a movie from Blockbuster but didn't find anything interesting. Man we were boring with all that TV watching. But it was really nice to just relax.

Saturday we woke up around 10-ish and left the house around 11:30 for Solvang, CA. But first we hit up a MINI HORSE FARM. That's right people, a MINI HORSE FARM. It was probably one of the cutest things I've seen in awhile. Tons of mini horses just frolicking in this farm. So great. After the mini horse farm we found downtown Solvang and walked around for a bit. It's a really cute town... but hella boring. We rented a bicycle surrey thing (which is basically this carriage shaped thing where four people pedal and one person steers). It was a big workout but very very fun. We were quite sweaty and exhausted after our hour was up. After the surrey adventure, we went to this little cafe called the Green House Cafe where we all had REALLY yummy sandwiches. Susie got a smoked turkey sandwich and it had like two inches of just MEAT. It was crazy. I got a chicken sourdough sandwich and Chris got the chicken pesto on focaccia. Yum. We then drove back to the condo and just sat in the living room. We were all beat. Around 7-ish we started cooking dinner (aka I started the grill and then burnt everything while Susie handled the veggies). We ate around 8 pm and it was QUITE yummy and surprisingly healthy. We probably should've gotten more meat. Oh well. Next time. After dinner Susie and I made a quick stop to Von's for some ice cream sundae essentials and then of course, we just sat around and chilled in front of the TV. We're such homebodies.

Sunday we woke up around 10-ish and cleaned the condo for awhile. Then we left for lunch and had Mo's BBQ in downtown Pismo. The food was pretty dang good. Susie and I got the shredded bbq pork sandwich and Chris got the tri-tip sandwich. We also got an order of garlic fries... and they were quite yummy. After lunch, we walked down the beach and just sat around for a bit. There was the cutest mini yorkie puppy and the cutest pittbull puppy. After the beach we headed home to rest. Chris stayed behind to watch sports whilst Susie and I went to get our nails did. Woot! We only found ONCE place open on Sunday and they were understaffed so it took awhile. But no biggie, it was still a good mani/pedi. Finally we got back to the condo, sat around for a bit, and finally headed home around 6:15 pm. The drive wasn't too shabby... I've realized that I need to listen to non-music to keep me awake. Which is interesting. So before my drive to LA for Labor Day Wkd, I'm going to buy either audiobooks or comedy cds or something. Dane Cook kept me awake on the drive home even though I've heard his act like 20x. Hm. Ate dinner at Taco Bell and finally got to SF about 10:15 pm. Not too shabby.

Overall it was a grrreat weekend. I loved spending time with Susie and Chris and eating deeelicious food. And now... some pictures for everyone's enjoyment.

Gimme my shoes, BATCH!

So I guess it's a slow week, because even though I updated yesterday... I'd like to update again today. Nothing really interesting happened since yesterday except SHOPPING. Lovely, glorious, self destructive shopping. Emily and I left work around 5 pm and headed out to Milpitas to the "Great Mall." Turns out this Great Mall is just another ghetto fab outlet mall. They had a lot of stores but it wasn't as big as Ontario Mills down in SoCal. This outlet mall had all the normal stores: Off Saks 5th Ave, Gap Outlet, BR Outlet. They also had these random ghetto stores. AND they had an Abercrombie outlet and a Hollister Co. outlet! Which was new to me. I've never seen those before. The AF outlet was pretty ghetto and not that cheap but the Hollister outlet was better. I didn't end up buying anything from these stores but it was interesting nonetheless.

What I did end up buying was: a pair of cute Kenneth Cole Reaction Shoes from the Shoe Pavilion, a grey soft v-neck sweater from the BR Outlet, and a really cute white long tube top-y shirt from BCBG Max Azria (with pretend buttons... it's VERY cute and I can't find a picture anywhere online)

All great purchases! Each item was under $30... well the shoes were like $35. So each item was under $35. And now I am just doing a bit of work and simultaneously writing an exciting blog. Woo!

Next week have some fun stuff coming up... Wednesday is a BBQ at Sean's house, Thursday I'm driving down to Pismo to meet up with Sooz and Chris (yay!!) for a weekend of random adventures (mostly eating at Splash Cafe, shopping, and taking naps in the condo). It'll be exciting.

Losing Weight

Okay. So my goal is to get healthy. I've quit smoking and now it's time to lose weight and get in shape. I've only been gaining weight, well actually my entire life. So! Time for a little bit of ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Just like the song. Ty will help me watch what I eat and be a nazi in the gym. Which I'm a bit afraid of... I don't want to start hating him. But I do want to get thinner and lose a shit load of weight. So! I think I'm going to log everything that I buy AND eat/drink/consume/inhale. It'll be like Bridget Jones's Diary + The Shopaholic (except I'm not from the UK and I'm not white)... all rolled together into one obsessive and completely compulsive blog.

First things first, purchased items. I went to Urban with Cheech on Monday out in Santana Row and got myself a few things. First, I got a pair of really cute wedges from Urban for $39.99 on sale. Although the blue is cute, it's hard to match and they actually have a pair of brown ones online... So might I have to exchange them. Very cute and comfy tho. Second, I got this little planter thing for my desk at work. Before I just had mostly garbage and dust on my desk. Now I have garbage, dust, and this tiny planter that will soon reward me with Mint! Yum. I'm not sure if I'll actually use the mint, I just like the planter.

Now! Onto food...
